The Making of Cape Infinity
Every Cape Infinity begins its journey in the Himalayan region of India, where wool has long been part of daily life and traditional craft.
The process starts with collecting the wool and carefully cleaning it so that the fibres are ready to be worked with. The wool is then processed into yarn and dyed before the weaving preparation begins. Threads are carefully arranged on the loom in a process known as warping, which requires patience and precision before weaving can start.
Once the loom is prepared, skilled artisans begin weaving the fabric by hand. The wool is woven slowly and carefully into shawls, with close attention to the structure, tension, and softness of the cloth. Working with natural fibres and hand-operated looms means each piece carries small variations that make it unique.
After the shawls are woven, they are sent to our master tailor. Here the shawls are carefully shaped into Cape Infinity. Arm openings are created to allow the cape to be worn in different ways, giving it the versatility it is known for.
The capes are then washed, finished, and labelled before they are ready for their next journey.
From the Himalayan region they travel to our studio in Amsterdam, where they become part of the Fifth Origins collection before continuing on to the people who will wear them.
Each Cape Infinity carries the work of many hands, from the artisans who prepare the wool and weave the fabric to the tailors who carefully shape it into its final form.
