Handknitted Wool Oversize Scarf
Born from a refusal to use blends, this is our signature 100% wool oversize scarf. Handcrafted in the Himalayas, it offers unmatched natural warmth. Made to order, this is a forever piece designed to outlast the trends.

Hand-knitted from 100% wool by the women of our Betli Himalayan community, this oversized triangle scarf is warm, breathable, and designed for versatility. Generously sized, it can be styled in many ways — wrapped snugly around the neck, draped over the shoulders like a shawl, or layered over coats and knits for added warmth.

Material

  • 100% pure wool

  • Handwoven on a traditional loom

  • Made by the Betli artisan community in the Himalayas

The wool is naturally insulating yet breathable, making it suitable for layering across seasons. Handloom weaving allows the fabric to retain its structure, warmth, and character without the need for synthetic blends.

Size

This piece is made to order and customised to ensure the right fit and comfort.

Once you place your order, our team will reach out to confirm your measurements and preferred fit. Each garment is then finished specifically for you by the Betli artisan community.

Because of this personalised process, please allow slightly longer lead times — the result is a piece made just for you, not pulled from a shelf.

Care Instructions

Wool is a natural, living fibre and may develop light pilling over time, especially in areas of movement or friction. This is completely normal and a sign of pure wool.

  • Hand wash gently in cold water using a mild wool detergent

  • Do not wring or twist

  • Lay flat to dry or hang to air-dry

  • Between wears, simply air it out — wool has natural self-cleaning properties

  • If pilling occurs, gently remove it using a fabric or wool shaver

  • Store folded when not in use

With the right care, the fabric will continue to soften and age beautifully.

Every Betli wool dress-jacket begins its journey in Amsterdam, at our design table — where silhouettes are sketched with versatility, longevity, and movement in mind. From there, for this silhouette the next stop was to the Himalayas, where material, maker, and time come together.

The wool used for this piece is sourced locally, chosen for its warmth, resilience, and suitability for handloom weaving. It is first cleaned and carded (10+ steps to turn fibre into yarns), a careful process that prepares the fibre while preserving its natural character. The wool is then spun into yarn and dyed, ready to be transformed into fabric.

The yarns are passed on to the weavers of the Betli community, where each loom is set up by hand. The warp is prepared slowly, thread by thread, before the fabric is woven on a traditional wooden loom. This stage demands precision, patience, and deep knowledge — every metre of fabric reflecting the rhythm and experience of the weaver behind it.

Once woven, the fabric moves to the stitching unit, where it is cut and sewn into its final form - a piece designed to move effortlessly between a dress and a jacket.

From fibre to fabric, from loom to garment, this process honours every hand involved. There are no shortcuts, no synthetic blends, and no rushed timelines — only skill, time, and trust.

This is not just a garment made of wool.
It’s a story of local materials, living craft, and collaboration across continents — made with 100% Humanity.

Your Impact with Every Wool Dress-Jacket

Wear something that carries warmth — in more ways than one.

Your handwoven wool dress-jacket is the result of time, many hands, and thoughtful choices. Here’s what your piece supports, simply by being worn:

What You Get Why It Matters
100% wool (plastic-free)

No synthetic fibres. Wool is a natural, biodegradable material that lasts longer and sheds no microplastics.

Wool from small farmers

The wool comes from sheep reared by small farmers, supporting small-scale livelihoods rather than industrial supply chains.

Machine-spun yarn, handwoven fabric

The yarn is machine-spun for durability and consistency; the fabric is woven entirely by hand on a wooden loom.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified dyes

Dyed using safety-certified dyes that meet strict standards for human and environmental safety.

~15 people involved

From cleaning and carding the wool to dyeing, warping, weaving, cutting, and stitching — many skilled hands contribute to one garment.

~18–20 hours of work

Each piece represents many hours of manual, skilled labour that cannot be rushed or automated.

Made to order

Produced only after you place an order, helping avoid excess stock and unnecessary production.

Two ways to wear

Designed to function as both a dress and a jacket, reducing the need for multiple garments.

You’re not just wearing a dress-jacket.
You’re wearing 100% Humanity.
